Unit Test on Quadratic Equations

On December 9th/10th we had our unit test that covered the following learning outcomes:

  • L.O. 11:  Demonstrate an understanding of factoring basic & complex polynomial expressions.
  • L.O. 12:  Demonstrate an understanding of solving equations by factoring.
  • L.O. 13:  Demonstrate an understanding of using square roots to solve quadratic equations and completing the square.
  • L.O. 14:  Demonstrate an understanding of how to derive and/or apply the quadratic formula.
  • L.O. 15:  Demonstrate an understanding of the nature of roots of a quadratic equation in the form ax2 + bx + c = 0.
  • L.O. 16:  Demonstrate an understanding of how to solve problems that involve quadratic equations.

Quadratic Equation Word Problems

On November 29th/December 2nd we:

  • looked at some problems that involved quadratic equations (and practiced evaluating the question for the most efficient strategy)
  • practiced with the handout questions #1 – 10 and also went back and completed the word problem questions from the worktext in Chapter 3
